My First Time

A Note From the Director

My First Time is a play based on a website created by Peter Foldy. This website is dedicated to sharing first time stories. There have been over 40,000 stories posted since its inception. Many of the stories that have been selected to be put in the play, like real life stories, range from hilarious to heartbreaking. A first time, or lack of, is something we all have in common, so why not share these stories? The people in this play are choosing to share one of the most vulnerable moments in their life. My First Time has an open and honest conversation about sex, and what it means to different people. My First Time reminds us that no matter who we are, we are all connected by this event. We are also excited to have your first show in the new Little Theater! It has been such an amazing experience directing my first show, thank you all for your support!

Meet the Cast

Gavin Buurma is a Senior Musical Theatre major, with a minor in Business Administration and Theatre Education from Willard, Ohio. He has performed in various productions at Heidelberg including Mamma Mia!, The Music Man, The Penguin Tango, Shakespeare's Macbeth, Cabaret, Fun Home, Puffs, Elf, and The Addams Family. Gavin is a member of the Hei-Notes and a Student Ambassador. He would like to thank his friends and family, especially his mom, for all of their support. The cast and crew have worked incredibly hard throughout the pandemic and he is very excited for everyone to be back LIVE!

Bri Clark is a junior Musical Theater major and is on track to get her MBA. She has participated in theatrical shows pretty much her whole life. Bri has been in multiple shows here at Heidelberg including Cabaret, Oedipus, She Kills Monsters , Freaky Friday, Elf, Heathers, 9 to 5, and The Addams Family. She also participates as the scenic charge and graphic designer for the theater department. Bri is excited for her future here at Heidelberg as well as what will follow once she graduates.

Gretta Griesbach is a Junior Theatre Major here at Heidelberg University. She has been performing in productions all throughout middle school and high school. She has performed on the Heidelberg stage in She Kills Monsters, Freaky Friday, Elf, Dog Sees God, Heathers, 9 to 5, and The Addams Family. Gretta is super excited to be back acting on the stage and would like to thank everyone for their support for this production! She wants to especially thank the cast and crew for their hard work and dedication towards this amazing show!

Jackson Helmholtz is a freshman musical theatre major here at Heidelberg. In the past he has been in Addams Family, Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood, Tarzan, and The Wizard of Oz. He is in Hei-Notes as well as Make-A-Scene. He is so excited to get to perform in the new black box theatre. He would like to thank the cast and crew for their hard work on the show!

Gage Hill is a second-year musical theatre major from Clyde, Ohio. In the past he has performed in shows at Clyde High School, Bellevue Society for the Arts, and at Heidelberg University. He has been in Seussical the Musical, Guys and Dolls, Beauty and the Beast, Freaky Friday (Twice), and The Addams Family. This show is a very different style and feel to any show he's ever performed before so this is a valuable learning experience and he's making the most of it!

Isaac Hulbert has always been fascinated with productions of all kinds on and off stage. Now that he is here at Heidelberg University, he is able to live out my dreams on the stage. I am honored for the opportunity to participate in this show.

Khadijah Kennedy is a freshman musical theatre major originally from Louisiana, but moved to Warren, Ohio four years ago. Enjoy the show!

Ben Pollizi is so excited to be performing in My First Time! He is a junior musical theatre major with a minor in business and theatre education. This semester he appeared in The Addams Family, he also serves as the master electrician for the department. Later this semester he will be portraying Mr. Collins in Pride and Prejudice. He hopes you enjoy the show!

Lexy Saxon is a freshman acting major. She is super excited to be performing this show with such talented performers. She would like to thank her friends and family for supporting her and always helping her with anything!

Nick Talion is a junior at Heidelberg and is so excited to return to Gundach for yet another production! He has been in previous productions here at Gundlach such as Cabaret (Ernst), She Kills Monsters (Miles), Dog Sees God (CB), and is so excited about My First Time. He would like to thank his friends and family for all the support and for helping him make it this far, as well as the entire cast and the directors for making this show a memorable one!

Audrey Warren is a freshman Musical Theatre major. Some of her previous roles include The Cat in the Hat (Seussical), Paul (Moon Over Buffalo), Snoopy (You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown), Sir Andrew Aguecheek (Twelfth Night), Prairie Woman Ancestor (The Addams Family) and Captain Northix (The Corvus 3–a one-act play that Audrey wrote and directed). She would like to thank Riley Gibson for helping her ease into the horrifying world of action work. Audrey also designed the poster for this production.

Taylor Yunker is a freshman musical theater major from Medina, Ohio. My First Time is Taylor’s second show here at Heidelberg University. Taylor feels honored to be working amongst such a creative, talented, and supportive group of people.

Meet the Production Team

Lizzie Bowman is a fourth year student at Heidelberg, majoring in Musical Theatre with a minor in History and Business. While attending Heidelberg, Lizzie has functioned as dance captain for Freaky Friday, 9 to 5 and assistant stage manager for The Addams Family. This will be her first time stage managing a show. Lizzie is very excited to be working with the student led production team on My First Time.

Riley Gibson is a senior musical theatre major. She has worked production on the shows Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, Penguin Tango, Dog Sees God, Freaky Friday and 9 to 5. They have assistant directed the shows Lysistrata, Oedipus, Elf and The Addams Family. Her production jobs have included: costumes, dance captain, scenic painting, lights, assistant directing, assistant stage managing and sound. She has also directed My First Time, which was performed in the blackbox theatre.

Jack Mills is a sophomore musical theatre major. He is a part of Heidelberg’s Heinotes, and Heidelberg’s improv group, Make-a-Scene. He has performed in Heidelberg’s production’s of Freaky Friday, Elf, Heathers The Musical, he was Luke in Dance Nation, Josh in 9 to 5. His most recent role being Lucas in The Addams Family. He is very excited to assistant direct Heidelberg’s student directed show, My First Time. He wants to thank his friends and family for their continuous support. He would also like to thank the cast and crew of My First Time for their hard work, dedication, and being such great role models, and great people to work with. Hope you enjoy the show!
